I am so excited to start this blog series that is so near and dear to my heart– vendor mamas in the wedding industry.
A little context for you (some of which you probably already know). I started my wedding planning company in 2015. It was my baby— I spent every spare second I had working on weddings, my business, and I built very high standards and expectations for myself. When I found out I was pregnant, I didn’t think much about how motherhood would change my role as a business owner and wedding planner.
I guess I took the point of view that I always do, which is, it will all work out! HAHA. While it has all worked out for the most part, it has at times been painful, disappointing, rewarding, and a ton of other adjectives inserted here.
Now that my son is 4 years old and in preschool full time, I feel like I am able to take a step back and look at my experience with a bit more clarity. While the newborn days are behind me, I still constantly feel like I am struggling between motherhood and business ownership, specifically showing up as a wedding vendor.
I know that my experience is not completely unique and I am also interested in the ways that my situation and feelings are different from others that are forging down the same road. So, I reached out to some of the most talented vendors I know that have also added “mama” to their list of jobs. It was important to me to chat with women who had successful wedding brands and businesses before becoming mothers, as I am very interested in how it felt to “pick it all back up” post-baby.
I hope you enjoy getting to know these badass business owners, they truly are exceptional women and I feel lucky to be in their orbit. If you know someone that would be interested in sharing their experience, please send them my way or shoot me an email with their information!
This started as a small little series, but I think it is something that can be much bigger and I am excited to keep the conversation going!
